LIMBIC LANDMARS
collective exhibition
The project delves into the depths of the interconnection between the digital and the organic. Starting from the fundamental premise that all living existence carries a form of sentience, it explores the most intrinsic roots of this understanding. The term "Limbic Landmarks" evokes not only physical geography but also the emotional landmarks that shape our understanding of the world. By turning to the limbic system, the epicenter of emotions, we are confronted with the idea that emotional responses are not exclusive to humanity but are a common thread running through all life. This exploration leads us to question not only what it means to be human but what it means to be alive and present. Through three audiovisual installations—LIMINAL WEIGHT, MIRRORLESS IDOL, and VITAL TIDE—we seek to transcend the traditional boundaries between the natural and the technological. We use digital language as a tool to uncover the mysteries and depths of emotions not only within ourselves but also in the living beings around us. We invite spectators to contemplate the complexity and beauty of these connections and recognize sentience as a universal link that unites all forms of life in this vast and interconnected cosmos.
This exhibition brings together three installations developed by Carincur, João Pedro Fonseca, Filipe Baptista and Lua Carreira.
